Ivan Penkov

Competitor 10th International Franz Liszt Competition

After his studies at the National School of Arts with Antoaneta Vodenicharova in his hometown of Pleven, Ivan Penkov continued his studies with Tamara Poddubnaya and Paul Komen at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen. Nowadays he studies with Jan Wijn at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He has attended masterclasses with Charles Rosen, Rian de Waal, Leslie Howard, Igor Roma and Pascal Devoyon, among others. Ivan Penkov has won various prizes including First Prize at the International ‘Russian Piano Music’ Competition in Pleven (2006) and the International Competition ‘Young Virtuosos’ in Sofia (2008). In 2011 he was a Semi-finalist at the 9th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Aside from his native country, Ivan Penkov regularly performs in the Netherlands, such as during the Peter the Great Festival, and Germany.
