 The Liszt Competition Foundation regularly organizes International Piano Masterclasses with prominent pianists and piano teachers. These Masterclasses have already taken place in all corners of the world, such as New York, Moscow, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul and of course in Utrecht.

International Junior Piano Academy
In cooperation with Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, the Liszt Competition organized the International Junior Piano Academy in August 2015. Talented young pianists between the ages of 15 and 18 were invited to attend the week-long masterclasses and workshops. With Igor Roma, Paul Komen, Jan Wijn and Frederic Chiu. The Piano Academy concluded with a presentation concert at the Amstelkerk.
 

Masterclass Andrea Bonatta
On 5 November 2014, the Italian pianist Andrea Bonatta gave a masterclass for two upcoming concert pianists. 

Masterclass Paul Badura-Skoda
On 5 November 2014 Paul Badura-Skoda, the nestor of the jury, gave a masterclass as well for two very young and talented pianists. For additional details: click here.

On 31 October 2014, the Polish pianist Piotr Paleczny gave a masterclass for two prize winners of the Young Pianist Foundation Competition in TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht / The Netherlands). For additional details: click here.

Masterclass Leslie Howard
 
On 26 November 2013, Leslie Howard gave a masterclass at YASM (Yamaha Artists Services Moscow) in Moscow.

Masterclass Julius Drake and Ruth Ziesak 
On 22 and 23 October 2013 at De Toonzaal in 's-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) there was a masterclass devoted to Liszt's songs. The masterclass was organized in cooperation with International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch. More information.

Masterclasses Enrico Pace, China and Japan 2013
 
On 27 and 29 September 2013 at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Enrico Pace worked with international talents. On 8 and 9 October Pace gave a Masterclass at PTNA, Tokyo and the Showa University of Music in Kanagawa.

Masterclass Louis Lortie, Utrecht 2012

On 8 and 9 October 2012, in Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh, the world-famous Canadian pianist Louis Lortie worked with leading international talents, including Jenny Chen and Oleksandr Poliykov, both prize winners of the Liszt Competition 2011. The other participants were prize winners from the competitions of Cleveland, Kyu Yeon Kim, and  Weimar, Marina Yakhlakova. Watch the short documentary about this Masterclass. View the photos

Masterclass Paul Badura-Skoda, Moscow 2010

On 1 and 2 June 2010, the Liszt Competition came to the Moscow Tchaikowsky Conservatory with the venerable piano pedagogue Paul Badura-Skoda. View the photos.

Liszt Junior Academy, Utrecht 2010
In May 2010 the Liszt Competition organized its first Liszt Junior Academy. By offering proper and targeted assistance, the Liszt Competition intends to help unusually gifted pianists between the ages of 13 and 17 from all over the world prepare during this important phase in their development. Masterclasses Andrea Bonatta, Asia and Utrecht 2009

In 2009 Liszt specialist Andrea Bonatta gave two masterclasses on Liszt's piano music. In April a masterclass tour took place in Asia. In October he gave a series of masterclasses during the 3rd Liszt in Vredenburg Festival. This masterclass was special because of the instrument the pianists played on. One of Liszt's grand pianos that was transported from Bayreuth, Germany. It was an 1873 Steingraeber on which the composer himself had played and composed many of his works. Bonatta taught prize winners of major international piano competitions in Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh. One of them was Anzhelika Fuks, who won Third Prize at the 2008 Liszt Competition. View the photos.

Masterclass Tour Jacques Rouvier, China 2007

At the invitation of the Franz Liszt Piano Competition, well-known French pianist and piano pedagogue Jacques Rouvier gave a series of masterclasses in China from 20 to 27 April 2007. The masterclasses were a warm-up for the 8th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, 2008. The masterclass tour was held in cooperation with three important Chinese conservatories: the Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory, the Central Conservatory of Music Beijing and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Masterclasses Leslie Howard, Utrecht 2007

Renowned pianist Leslie Howard gave a Liszt Piano Masterclass in Vredenburg Utrecht on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 April 2007. Talented students from the Netherlands have participated in the masterclass. Leslie Howard and several selected pianists have performed on Thursday 12 April in the Philharmonie Haarlem. The Masterclass was organized by the Liszt Competition in cooperation with the Young Pianist Foundation (YPF) and was used as part of the preparations for the 8th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition.

Masterclasses Dominique Merlet, Utrecht 2006

As part of the 2nd Franz Liszt in Vredenburg Festival 2006, the Liszt Competition organized an International Piano Masterclass with French pianist and pedagogue Dominique Merlet. Young prize winners of prominent international piano competitions participated. On the programme were works by Franz Liszt and other composers. View the photos.

In March 2006, the Liszt Competition Foundation organized in cooperation with Yamaha / Liszt series an International Piano Masterclass with Leslie Howard. Christiaan Kuyvenhoven, Third Prize winner of the Liszt Competition 2005 was one of the participants. View the photos.

Masterclass Oxana Yablonskaya, Utrecht 2004
From 5 to 8 October 2004, the Liszt Competition organized an International Liszt Piano Masterclass, given by the Russian
pianist and pedagogue Oxana Yablonskaya. In the run-up to the 7th Liszt Competition, eight young pianists were selected to take part in the masterclass: József Balog, Alessio Cioni, Goran Filipec, Masataka Goto, Hayk Melikyan, Milan Miladinovic, Viktor Valkov and Xu Yi. View the photos.
