Sophiko Simsive

Competitor 10th International Franz Liszt Competition
Sophiko Simsive initially studied at the Tbilisi Gymnasium of Music. In 2007, through the intercession of conductor Lev Markiz, she became the youngest student ever to be admitted to the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where she was taught by Mila Baslavskaja. She is currently studying with Jacques Rouvier at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. She has attended masterclasses with Dmitri Alexeev, Dmitri Bashkirov, Boris Berman and Jean-Yves Thibaudet, among others. In 2007 Sophiko Simsive won First Prize at the Princess Christina Competition. As a result, she made a tour through North America and played Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto with the Residence Orchestra. She regularly gives solo recitals in France and the Netherlands and performs during festivals such as the Canterbury Festival in England and the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
