Wouter Bergenhuizen

Competitor 10th International Franz Liszt Competition

Wouter Bergenhuizen studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Marjès Benoist and Jan Wijn. In 2008 he went for a year to the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest where he took lessons with Gábor Eckhardt and Ferenc Rados. He has attended masterclasses in piano from Håkon Austbø, Ralph van Raat, Naum Grubert and Peter Frankl, among others and lied accompaniment from Rudolf Janssen and Udo Reinemann. Wouter Bergen-huizen played chamber music with Dmitri Ferschtman, Arno Bornkamp, Stefan Metz and Marieke Schneemann, among others. He is a member of Ensemble ’88, specialised in contemporary music. His rendition of Liszt’s Totentanz with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Edo de Waart garnered him much praise. Since 2011 he has been a piano teacher affiliated with the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
