The Liszt CompetitionThe Liszt Competition is held every three years in Utrecht. During the past twenty-five years, it has developed a reputation as one of the world’s most prestigious music competitions. It is a modern competition, known for the professional support it offers to young musicians through a special Career Development Programme.
The Competition is entirely devoted to the piano music of Franz Liszt. This exclusive approach, its extensive career coaching as well as the many international concert engagements for the Prize Winners has given the Liszt Competition a unique profile. In addition to more than € 60,000 in prize money, every prize winner can expect an extensive Career Development Programme, with a national and international tour and an international CD release. The Liszt Competition will also represent the laureates as their concert manager for a three-year period.

Jubilee year
The International Franz Liszt Piano Competition is celebrating the 25th jubilee and the 200th anniversary of Franz Liszt’s birth with a special programme. The winners of the first edition in 1986 will come together again in a special jubilee series. In cooperation with the University of Utrecht and the Franz Liszt Circle, the Liszt Competition is also organising an international scientific conference about the pianist, the composer and the person Franz Liszt, to be held from 1 to 3 April 2011. To top it off, all nine First Prize winners of the Liszt Competition will appear on stage during a special Liszt Competition Anniversary Concert in Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn on Saturday, 22 October 2011.
Media coverage
The Liszt Competition always enjoys extensive radio, television and internet coverage. Regular media partners include the TROS (radio and internet), NPS (television), Cultura (digital television) as well as the European Broadcast Union (EBU). During previous editions, the entire Competition was broadcast live on the internet (webcasting). Members of the Dutch and international press shall be present at each edition to report on the Competition.
