Between 6 and 9 January 2022, 35 selected pianists performed in the First Round of Liszt Utrecht. The jury, consisting of Mariam Batsashvili, Andrea Bonatta, Leslie Howard, Christiaan Kuyvenhoven and Igor Roma, has selected ten top talents that we will see again in September 2022 in TivoliVredenburg.

Livestream first round

Due to the corona measures in The Netherlands unfortunately, there is no public allowed in the concert hall during the first round of Liszt Utrecht from 6 - 9 January 2022. The entire first round will be streamed live, so you can still follow all forty pianists.

Favourites Festival

No fewer than seven audience winners will perform at a new Liszt festival on Saturday 30 October in TivoliVredenburg. From noon to late evening virtuoso, special, relaxing and spirited piano music can be heard in the building.

Jury announced!

The jury of Liszt Utrecht 2022 has been announced. After online selection rounds, forty candidates will be invited to the live auditions in Utrecht. Ten of them will be selected for the next phase. We would like to introduce the jurors to you.

Applications 2022 closed

The upcoming competition, 'The Schubert Edition' will take place from 22 to 29 September 2022 in TivoliVredenburg. Applications are now closed. The participants of the live selection rounds in January 2022 will be announced on 22 October.

In 2022 Liszt Utrecht will host the first edition of 'NLiszt'. After an online selection round five pianists between 16 and 21 years old will be invited for a recital during the festival phase in TivoliVredenburg. The winner will receive the Henk de By award and an opportunity to perform with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest during the Finals of Liszt Utrecht.

We are sad to announce the cancellation of the Liszt Competition in November 2020. After having worked on numerous alternative scenarios, we must face the reality that it is impossible to host an international event at this time, with the ongoing travel restrictions and unpredictable local situation. We are still committed to our participants, who are the real victims of this situation.

12th edition postponed

We are sad to announce that the 12th edition of the Liszt Competition Utrecht needs to be postponed once more. We had high hopes in March that the competition could take place in July, but the reality is that with the current restrictions on cultural events and the limitations on international travel it is still impossible.

Cancellation 12th edition

With the greatest sadness we have to announce that the 12th edition of the Liszt Competition needs to be cancelled.
Earlier today the Dutch Government has ordered a ban on all public events, which has led to the decision to cease all operations of the venue TivoliVredenburg and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra till April 1st.
